Hey! My name is Gal (@gal_kalderon) , I’m a 26-year-old fashion design student at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. My main interests are fashion and sports (such as Crossfit, dancing, Carver riding and so on). I live in Tel Mond, which is a town about half an hour from Tel Aviv.
What is a typical breakfast and where would you go?
For me, a typical breakfast must include eggs, a salad and different kinds of spreads (Soft cheese, Hummus, Tahini, tapenade, Dried tomatoes etc.) – basically a classic Israeli breakfast. To have the best breakfast I would go to Bucke Café. I’d recommend ordering the breakfast tray, which is enough for 2-3 people, for the ultimate Israeli experience!
Where is your favourite place to grab lunch?
My favourite place for a fancy lunch is Taizu restaurant. A Southeast Asian restaurant that offers a great lunch deal; plus, the food & service are just so good. Taizu can be a great place to have dinner with family or for a date night.
As a less fancy option I would go to Ha’Achim. They offer the ultimate Israeli food.
What is the ideal afternoon activity in a city like Tel Aviv?
I would say a walk across Tel Aviv Port. Personally, I love skateboarding along here, especially at sunset.
Where are the best places for dinner?
I’m a pizza person, so for me the best dinner is a good pizza. For just that, I’d go to Arale Pizza Bar on Dizzengof Street. They have a huge menu with a variety of classic and unusual pizza toppings and, as it’s also a bar, they have a great selection of drinks too to wash it down with!
Another place I would recommend if you are celebrating something (or just life) is Emesh Restaurant, they serve great food and the place becomes a club after dinner, so it’s a lot of fun for a whole night out in one venue.
In the evening, what is the city like and where do you find yourself?
Tel Aviv is busy 24/7, for a fun night out with friends I’d go to Dizzy Frishdon.
In a busy city like Tel Aviv, is there anywhere to chill?
Tel-Aviv is located on the beach, and there is not a better place to chill at.
What is there to do for something fun and different?
For fun time with friends there are many ‘escape rooms’ that can be very fun and challenging.
Where is the best place area to stay/sleep for young travellers?
Anywhere in the centre is ideal. Tel Aviv is a small city and if you stay at the centre you can easily walk anywhere. Also, I’ve heard that Couch Surfing is a great experience for young travellers in Tel Aviv- so if you are on a budget definitely give it a try.
What season would you recommend visiting?
I’d recommend visiting Tel Aviv in summertime so you can enjoy the beach.
Is Tel Aviv best for a family holiday/friends holiday or couple holiday?
Tel Aviv is great for all kinds of holidays, there are so many activities for all kinds of people and there are different areas that can suit the type of holiday you are looking for.
