Hello! My name is Sharon, and I am a travel blogger from Ontario, Canada. My travel Instagram is @traveleatthenrepeat. I am currently attending my last year of University at the University of Waterloo. I study Environment and Business with a minor in Human Resources. My hometown is Waterloo, Ontario but I spend most of my time in Toronto, Ontario which is about an hour away from my hometown.

I love Toronto because there is always something new to do and explore! As someone who loves to travel and explore new places, I enjoy spending my time in Toronto trying out new food places and exploring different places in the city. Another reason why I love Toronto is because it is a very multicultural. There are people with all different kinds of backgrounds, making the food options in the city also very diverse.

What is a typical breakfast and where would you go?

A typical breakfast that Canadians enjoy are eggs and bacon or sausage with a side of home fries and toast. My favourite place to get this breakfast is Evviva Breakfast & Lunch in downtown Toronto. The food and aesthetic of the place is phenomenal and there is a perfect view of the CN Tower from the patio!

Where is your favourite place to grab lunch?

My favourite place to grab lunch in Toronto is EATALY. It is right in the heart of downtown Toronto and it essentially an Italian marketplace area with 4 Italian restaurants.

What is the ideal afternoon activity in a city like Toronto?

An ideal afternoon activity in Toronto is to head down to Harbourront area and grab a Beavertail from the Beavertail stand. Beavertails are a popular Canadian dessert that are fried dough pastries shaped like a beaver’s tail. It is usually topped with either sweet or savoury ingredients. After getting beavertails, hop on a water taxi or take the ferry from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal to centre island and spend the afternoon walking and biking around Toronto centre island.

Where are the best places for dinner?

Toronto is famous for amazing Japanese izakaya restaurants! A few of my favourites are Kinka Izakaya, Nome Izakaya, Kintaro Izakaya, and Zakkushi. Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese bar that serves alcoholic drinks and snacks.

In the evening, what is the city like and where do you find yourself?

In the evening the city is usually bustling with people roaming the streets and white-collar workers getting off from work. My favourite thing to do in the evening in the city is to watch the sunset. A couple of my favourite places to watch the sunset is Riverdale Park and Chester Point Lookout.

In a busy city like Toronto, is there anywhere to chill?

The best place to chill in Toronto where there is more peace and quiet is East Toronto near the beaches. Around the beaches there are lots of nice areas to chill like Greektown, Leslieville, and Danforth. These places are typically less busy and more peaceful. You can take a stroll along Woodbine Beach and enjoy the view of Lake Ontario.

What is there to do for something fun and different?

Something fun and different that you can do in Toronto is go up to the CN Tower and participate in the CN Tower Edge Walk. This is an activity that you can do where you get to go to the top of the CN Tower, get strapped to a harness, and walk along the edge of the tower outside, and take in the breath-taking views of the city. This activity can be quite scary though and not recommended for people who have a fear of heights.

Where is the best area to stay/sleep for young travellers?

The best area in Toronto to stay for young travellers is the Entertainment District. This area has the most activities for young people to do like restaurants, clubs, bars, and it is also in the heart of downtown Toronto, so it is close to a lot of attractions.

What season would you recommend visiting?

I would recommend visiting during the summer months of May to August. Our winters can typically get quite cold, however if you like a bit of snow, it is best to visit during December, because January and February are usually when the winter season worsens.

Is Toronto best for a family holiday/friends holiday or couple holiday?

Toronto can be great for both a family/friends holiday or a couple holiday! There are lots of family friendly activities to do with bigger groups, but Toronto is also known as a very romantic city with lots of opportunities for cute couple dates!
