Hi, my name is Annika (@annika_haet), I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia then spent high school and college in the US! Now, I’m so happy to be back home in Sydney working as a Leadership Client Manager! What I love most about living in Sydney is the ability to easily commute between the beach and the city so you really get the best of both worlds!
My typical breakfast in Sydney is avocado toast or an acai bowl paired with a chai latte. A couple of my favourite places to go for breaky include Speedos café in Bondi, the Fruitologist in Rozelle, and Baby Coffee Co in Waterloo.
Australian’s are all about brunch, so I generally don’t go out just for lunch, but if I do I would opt to go to a Bare-Naked Bowls cafe or to the Boathouse at Balmoral Beach. There’s nothing like eating with a view of one of Sydney’s gorgeous beaches.
An ideal afternoon in Sydney is soaking up the sun at any of Sydney’s Northern or Eastern beaches. My personal favourites include Manly, Freshwater and Bronte. If you're up for some evening drinks you could also end your beach visit at Watsons Bay Hotel or Coogee Pavilions.
Sydney has the most incredible food so it's hard to go wrong. On a summer night, I would choose to dine at El Camino Manly or Manly Skiff Club. In the winter I’d want to be eating pizza at Via Napoli in Hunters Hill.
The city is very much alive at night! If I’m going out with friends you would generally find me at a bar in Surry Hills! If I'm having a more low-key night you'll find me at Messina Gelato trying the weekly specials. This Is the best gelato you will ever have!
Yes, the beaches! However, if you’re not feeling like lying around you can go for a walk along any of Sydney’s coastal paths, or along Taronga Zoo.
For something fun and different I go to Holey Moley Golf and cocktail bar or bowling. If I’m really up for an adventure I might rent a quad bike to ride the sand dunes in Crunulla.
For young travelers, I would recommend staying in the Sydney CBD if you are interested in experiencing Sydney’s night life. If you're after a more relaxing stay I would recommend staying near Manly or Bondi beaches.
Summer! 100%! We are known for our beaches and gorgeous hikes through areas such as the Royal National Park.
Honestly Sydney is best for any holiday! If you haven’t had an opportunity to come I would recommend doing so and while you are down under, explore some other cities in Australia!
